6  DHIS2 Download

This guide explains how to securely connect to DHIS2 using the cd2030 app and download relevant data.

6.1 Understanding the DHIS2 Download Process

The DHIS2 Download module allows you to:

  • Securely connect to your DHIS2 instance.
  • Select the desired country and data period.
  • Download data in supported formats for use within the cd2030 app.

6.2 Connecting to DHIS2

Follow these steps to establish a connection:

  1. Enter Your Credentials: Provide your DHIS2 username and password in the respective fields.
  2. Select a Country: Choose the relevant country from the drop-down menu. This selection is crucial as it determines the DHIS2 instance the app will connect to.
  3. Set the Period: Define the date range for the data you wish to download using the Period selection tools. This allows you to specify the start and end dates for your data.
  4. Click Login: Press the Login button to initiate the connection process. The app will attempt to authenticate your credentials with the specified DHIS2 server and download the relevant data.

6.3 Downloading Data

Once a successful data download choose between the available download formats: - Download Master File: Downloads the data as a .dta (Stata) file. - Download Excel File: Downloads the data as a .xlsx (Excel) file.

6.4 Security and Privacy

The cd2030 app prioritizes the security and privacy of your DHIS2 credentials:

  • Temporary Credentials: Your DHIS2 username and password are used only temporarily during the current session.
  • No Storage of Credentials: The app does not store your credentials persistently. Once the session ends or you close the app, all credential information is discarded.
  • Secure Connection: The app uses secure communication protocols (HTTPS) to connect to DHIS2 servers, protecting your data during transmission.
  • Open-Source Code: The app’s open-source nature allows for independent review of its code, ensuring transparency in how credentials and data are handled.

  • Verify your internet connection.

  • Double-check your DHIS2 username and password for typos.

  • Ensure the DHIS2 server is operational by accessing it through a web browser.

  • Confirm that you have access to the selected country’s DHIS2 instance.

  • If the problem persists, contact your DHIS2 administrator or the app’s support team.
